Official study title

Efects of physiotherapy with aproach based on patient preferences and conventional physiotherapy in motor and non-motor symptoms of individuals with Parkinson disease

Short title used by the registry

A physiotherapy protocol based on the preferences of the individual with Parkinson disease for the health empowerment

Original description

Intervention: Experimental Group: will be composed of 12 individuals with Parkinson's disease who will perform the protocol of physiotherapy with an approach based on the preference of the individual, called EMPOWER-PD. Control Group: will be composed of 12 individuals with Parkinson's disease and will have as conventional physiotherapy protocol.  Both protocols will take place in a group for 8 weeks, twice weekly, lasting one hour. They will be based on mixed-gait training and locomotion, involving training in soil in different contexts. It will be applied in a massive way during the 40 minutes of main part, being allowed pauses to rest according to the patients perception. The patient will perform the tasks in a varied way through circuits containing tasks focused on their activities of daily living. Each task will be repeated according to the participants' performance. Sessions will be monitored by physiotherapists and physical educators. The factors of comparison between the protocols are defined by their different objectives.;Behavioural;Other;F04.754.137;E02.779;E02.760.169.063.500.387 Primary outcome: Expected outcome 1: Protocol viability. verified by the safety variables, (percentage of the occurrence of serious imbalances that compromise the safety of the participants during the intervention, being considered as parameter a limit of percentage of occurrences); adherence to the treatment, (attendance frequency of the participants to the treatment sessions, being considered as parameter the minimum percentage for each participant). This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up. Secondary outcome: Expected outcome 1:Improvement of Functional Mobility. Verified by the Timed up and Go Test (TUG), which consists of the evaluation from the seated position to walk the distance of 3 meters. This task will be timed. It will have as parameter the graduation of the execution time by an ordinal scale of 3 points (minimum 0 and maximum 3).This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up. ; Expected outcome 1:Improvement of gait activity in different sensory contexts. Measured by the Dynamic Marching Index (MDI) is composed of eight tasks, which require that the patient perform the gait adapts to different sensory contexts. In each task the patient will be evaluated according to an ordinal scale of 4 categories, where 3 is the best performance respectively. This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up.;Expected outcome 1:Stability of resting heart rate variability. It will be analyzed by means of a Polar heart rate meter, model RS800cx ©, where measurements will be granted through the time domain and the rate of consecutive heart rate oscillation (RR interval) , the beats per minute being stored from one to one second. The data will be categorized as values ??of variation of high frequency (HF) (0.15 to 0.4 Hz) as parasympathetic action of the vagus nerve and low frequency (LF) (0.4 to 0.15 Hz) as the parasympathetic action and sympathetic, with sympathetic predominance and the LF / HR relationship as the balance between the sympathetic and parasympathetic systems. The higher prevalence of low frequency values ??will be considered the parameter of variability stability. This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up.;Expected outcome 1:Physical Fitness Improvement. Evaluated using the 6-Minute Walk Test (TC6 ') which consists of walking a 30-meter course for 6 minutes at a rate where the patient can complete the 6-minute test. The total number of laps is multiplied by 60 (30m + 30m) and added to the distance in meters of the last lap resulting in the total distance covered in the test. The parameter of a good functional capacity is related to the greater distance covered in the test. This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up.;Expected outcome 1:Decreased fatigue impact in daily function. Measured by the Fatigue Severity Scale (ESF) that assesses the impact of fatigue on motivation, exercise, physical functioning, accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, and interfering with work, family or social life . The FSS total score parameter represents the average score of the nine items ranging from 1 to 7, in which the highest scores (maximum 63 points) indicate more severe fatigue. This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up.;Expected outcome 1:Increased self-perception of motivation and health empowerment. Measured by the qualitative face-to-face interview of motivation and empowerment of Health made individually in a private room, recorded in audio and guided by a script to obtain research data containing questions with The objective of this study was to investigate the reasons for physiotherapy, its relation to the proposed treatment and its reliance on reproducing treatment without professional supervision. The results parameters will be analyzed through the content analysis method and presented in categories that best explain the results obtained. This outcome will be assessed shortly after the participants' compliance with the eligibility criteria after completion of the 8 weeks of intervention and after 4 weeks of follow-up.
