Choosing settings for deep brain stimulation

Researchers are comparing approaches guided by brain anatomy or electrical signals and asking which patients prefer.

Anatomically vs. eLectrophysIologically Guided Contact SelectioN in Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson’s Disease - ALIGN PD

Short title used by the registry

Anatomically vs. eLectrophysIologically Guided Contact SelectioN in Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson’s Disease

Original description

Intervention: Group 1: anatomy-based continuous deep brain stimulation (aicDBS) Group 2: adaptive deep brain stimulation (aDBS) Primary outcome: Subjective preference of patients between anatomy-based stimulation (aicDBS) and adaptive stimulation (aDBS) Secondary outcome: Therapy-associated changes in motor and non-motor symptoms assessed by questionnaires and continuous accelerometry, as well as electrophysiological data recorded via the deep brain stimulation electrode

Conditions reported: G20;Parkinson disease
