Official study title

PDnetGo - a multicenter, European RCT study to evaluate a hybrid analog/digital care solution for Parkinson's patients - PDnetGo Trial

Short title used by the registry

PDnetGo - a multicenter, European RCT study to evaluate a hybrid analog/digital care solution for Parkinson's patients

Original description

Intervention: Group 1: intervention: Usage of the “Parkinson Go TM” digital care system in addition to standard therapy for Parkinson's patients (standard therapy = recent medication plan and on-site physiotherapy training frequency at time point of inclusion) Procedure for both groups: At the end of the 1st visit, all participants, regardless of group assignment, will be informed that in addition to the current medication plan, the use of an on-demand medication approved by the study physician (e.g. soluble levodopa/benserazide 100/25 mg) can be used if intolerable conditions in the patient need to be bridged at short notice during the study period (e.g. freezing with risk of falling, severe pain due to rigor or dystonia). Treating physicians who are not part of the study team should be informed by the patient about their participation in the study. During the 3-month study period, Parkinson's-specific medication should only be adjusted in exceptional cases without consulting the study team (e.g. if the patient presents to an emergency room or is admitted as an inpatient in an emergency). Procedure for the intervention group: Participants in the intervention group can download the ParkinsonGo TM app from the App Store or Play Store (depending on their own operating system) and register. To do this, the participant scans a QR code contained on a flyer in the box and follows the instructions in the app. After successful registration, the onboarding process begins. Over the first fourteen days, queries are made via the app (4 x 5 min) and calls are made by the tele-nurse (4 x 45 min) in order to gather information that will enable targeted and individualized adaptation of the treatment in the further course of treatment. During the 14-day onboarding phase, Primary outcome: Health status/mobility is assessed using the standardized motor section of the Movement Disorders Society Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS III) at the time of the inclusion visit and after 3 months at the exclusion visit Secondary outcome: Gait quality (Functional Gait Assessment Score = FGA-Score, Activity Balance Confidence Scale = ABC-Scale), quality of life (Parkinson's Disease Questionnaire = PDQ-39), usability tele-service (System Usability Scale = SUS), health economic evaluation (own questionnaire, survey of outpatient-sensitive cases of illness and care-sensitive cases of illness)

Conditions reported: G20.1;primary parkinsonian syndrome with moderate to severe impairment
