Original abstract

Abstract Sex modulates dopaminergic vulnerability and cortical plasticity in Parkinson’s disease. In a unilateral 6-hydroxydopamine mouse model, males showed greater nigrostriatal degeneration, while females exhibited distinct motor cortical glutamatergic remodelling with reduced VGLUT2 expression, indicating sex-dependent excitatory adaptations relevant to disease mechanisms and therapeutic targeting.
