Original abstract

Studien belysersjuksköterskornas erfarenheter som kan öka välbefinnande hos personermed Parkinsons sjukdom, exempelvis god kommunikation Background: Parkinson´s Disease is one of the most common neurologicaldiseases and is caused when dopamine-secreating cells in the brain dies. Thedisease is chronical and the onset of illness is not completely determined. The disease affects mostly older people and leads to symptoms like pain, tremor, rigidity, bradykinesia and depression. Aim: To describe nursesexperience of caring for people with Parkinson´s Disease. Method: Ageneral literature review with an inductive approach. The search were donein subject-specific databases and resulted in 10 result articals. Results:Three main themes were identified: the impact of knowledge in healthcare, the organization´s impact, on healthcare and the importance of thehealthcare encounter. The result showed that nurses experienced a lack ofknowledge, lacks in the organization and factors that increased the wellbeing for persons with the disease. Conclusion: The literature review showschallenges that affects the Parkinson´s Disease care, which in turn affectsthe nursing care. These are described as lack of time, lack of guidelines, andhigh workload. The study shows that nurses experience can increase peoplewith Parkinson´s Disease well-being, for example with good communication.
