Original abstract

Restoration of neuronal cell loss using cell transplantation represents a new strategy to treat neurodegenerative diseases. The replacement of dopaminergic neurons via implantation of embryonic midbrain tissue in patients with Parkinson’s disease has spearheaded this area of research.
