Original abstract

A BSTRACT Essential tremor (ET) is one of the most prevalent movement disorders affecting quality of life (QoL) and functional independence among adults. This case report describes the management of anxiety, depression, and QoL in a patient with ET using a validated Integrated Yoga Module (IYM), demonstrating the potential of a complementary approach. The patient diagnosed with ET according to the International Parkinson and Movement Disorder Society criteria was enrolled in an 8-week supervised, validated IYM intervention. Outcomes were assessed using the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale and Quality of Life in Essential Tremor Questionnaire at baseline, 4 weeks, and 8-weeks of follow-up. Following the 8-week intervention, the patient demonstrated clinically significant improvements in anxiety–depression levels and QoL parameters, without any reported adverse events. This case report provides preliminary evidence supporting the integration of yoga-based intervention in the management of ET. The IYM appears to be a safe, acceptable, and potentially effective complementary therapy for psychological well-being and for improving overall QoL.
