Original abstract
Using the example of the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease, this text explores the question of power effects, that reproduce through the use of a specific medical knowledge. Following a constructivist approach, the text shows how powerful knowledge formations in medicine relate to social frameworks. A qualitative analysis of interviews with six practicioners and neurologists and of 12 scientific articles was carried out in order to show the 'politics of the diagnosis'. De text concludes that the diagnosis of Parkinson's Disease is involved in the definition of a disease, the classification of people and their complaints, the self-awareness and life experience of 'patients' and the institutionalisation of medicine. It also shows that shared images of every day's life, conceptions of health and disease, technologies and institutions structure in turn the medical knowledge in the diagnosis and transform linked power relations.
