Original abstract
The dopamine agonist rotigotine that can be applied transdermally is indicated as a monotherapy for the symptomatic treatment of the early stages of idiopathic Parkinson's disease and has also been licensed since January 2007 as a combination therapy with L-Dopa for the treatment of advanced Parkinson's disease. The efficacy and tolerability of rotigotine in the early stages have been established by the results of two double-blind and placebo-controlled studies involving more than 600 patients. According to data from these studies, at equivalent doses to other dopamine agonists, rotigotine exhibits comparable efficacy and is well tolerated.
