Die Parkinson-Erkrankung ist eine neurodegenerative Krankheit, die immer häufiger auftritt und nach der Alzheimer-Demenz die zweithäufigste ist. In Deutschland sind etwa 400 000 Menschen von dieser Krankheit betroffen, was die Suche nach krankheitsmodifizierenden Behandlungsmöglichkeiten zu einem dringenden Thema macht. In dieser Ausgabe stellt Heinz Reichmann 1 eine vielversprechende Therapie option vor, die auf Adenosin A2A-Rezeptorantagonisten beruht, die in Kaffee und Schokolade enthalten sind.
