Original abstract

In Parkinson's disease (PD), cognitive impairment is often observed. The clinical diagnostic criteria of dementia associated with PD (PDD) was reported by the Movement Disorder Society Task Force. In PDD, cognitive impairments including memory, visuospatial function and executive function have been reported. The diagnostic criteria of mild cognitive impairment in PD (PD-MCI) was also reported by the Movement Disorder Society Task Force. The number of patients with PD, PD-MCI and PDD are growing. Using these criteria, studies of cognitive impairment in PD are progressing, including epidemiology, assessment, neurobiology, diagnostic biomarkers, prevention and treatment.
